Suspect sought in Great Northern robberies

NORTH OLMSTED – Police are hunting for a suspect in three robberies Thursday and Friday in and around Great Northern Mall.

A warrant was issued Friday for Tyrone L. Carroll, 31, who police said robbed the Famous Footwear on Brookpark Road.

Carroll, who police believe to not be from the area, told the clerk he had a gun, demanded money and fled in a silver Buick Century with Ohio license plate EFV4491, according to North Olmsted police Sgt. David Bonnell.

Employees at the shoe store never saw the weapon, he said.

Carroll also is the prime suspect in similar hold-ups inside the mall Thursday at Malley`s Chocolates and clothing store Vanity Inc., Bonnell said.

A media release from North Olmsted police says Carroll also is wanted in connection with three robberies in the Akron area.

“It wouldn`t surprise me if he was driving around and doing this at all the malls,” Bonnell said.

Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call the North Olmsted police department at (440) 777-3535.

Bonnell said he does not know whether Carroll could be involved in any of the 10 armed robberies in Lorain County in the past two weeks.

Amherst, Lorain and Sheffield police are searching for a link between eight of the hold-ups.
