Walter F. Bauer

Walter F. Bauer, 87, of Lorain, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

He was born January 30, 1920 in Cleveland. He had lived in Lorain since 1945. Walter graduated from John Marshall High School in Cleveland. During WWII, he was a staff sergeant in the 13th Air Force 58th Fighter Command A-3 Operations in the South Pacific. Walter was a sign designer with Advance Sign, from which he retired in 1984.

He also worked at Wiegand Electric for 12 years and Lustrolite in Cleveland.

After retirement he had a home based business called R.W. Advertising. Walter had been a member of numerous bowling leagues at Rebman Recreation. He also enjoyed painting pictures especially watercolors, and he enjoyed the Cleveland sports teams.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Amemlia (nee Kaspirek) Bauer; sons, Roger (Marilyn) Bauer of Elyria, Richard (Michelle) Bauer of Amherst, and Jeffrey (Jeril) Bauer of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Jeanette (Erik) Brammer, Katherine Bauer, and Robert Bauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Florence (nee Cline) Bauer; sisters, Emma Tippy and Florence Wuchte.

Visitations will be Tuesday, 6 to 9 P.M. at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. James Peter, Chaplain of Community Health Partners Hospital will officiate. Private interment will take place at a later date in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
