ELYRIA – City, county, state and federal offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Exceptions are safety services, such as police and fire departments, which will be on duty.
Sanitation collections by Elyria and Allied Waste Services will not be made on Thursday, but will resume on Friday, with collections concluding on Saturday.
Post offices, banks and area libraries will be closed on Thursday but will open on Friday.
Some banks with automated or in-store branches or ATMs may be available to conduct transactions.
Most retail stores will be closed on Thursday or will operate on special holiday hours. Convenience stores will follow their regular store schedules for the holidays. Stores closed Thursday will reopen with special hours beginning Friday morning.
Lorain County Transit buses will be idle for the holiday, but will return to regular routes early Friday morning.
E-Check stations also will be closed for the holiday.
