Alfred “Mack” T. McDowell, Sr., 81, of Elyria, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2007 at his home following a short illness. Mr. McDowell was born on February 7, 1926 in Anderson, South Carolina.
He was a Veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post. Mr. McDowell was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his sons, William Board of Meadville, Pennsylvania and Wylie McDowell III of Elyria; daughter, Sallie (Joe) Rowe of Elyria; sisters, Thelma Hull and Mary Hull, both of Pennsylvania; brother, Walter McDowell of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty McDowell; brother, Wylie McDowell, Jr.; son, Alfred McDowell, Jr.; and grandson, Wylie S. McDowell.
Friends may call Sunday, November 25, 2007 from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Bethany Baptist Church, 334 17th St., Elyria, where services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 12 Noon. Rev. Howard J. Timmons, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Carter Funeral Home, Elyria, is in charge of Arrangements.
