Police want help finding robber

ELYRIA – Police are circulating a drawing depicting the man they are seeking as a suspect in several recent robberies.

A clerk at Subway on North Ridge Road in Elyria Township – one of the stores that were robbed – helped an artist complete the sketch, sheriff`s Capt. Richard Resendez said.

Resendez said the girl was working at 8:50 p.m. last Thursday when a light-skinned black man walked in, pointed a gun at her face and demanded money.

She described the suspect as having fluffy hair, hazel eyes and acne on his face and said he probably is in his late teens or early 20s, Resendez said.

He also stands about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs between 140 and 145 pounds, Resendez said.

Police believe the same man also tried to rob Sally Beauty Supply across from Midway Mall earlier that same day.

A clerk there refused to give him money because she could tell it was his finger in his pocket and not a gun, said Elyria police Lt. Andy Eichenlaub.

The man might have also robbed a pizza delivery man of about $100 at gunpoint around 11:10 p.m. the same day, Eichenlaub said.

Sheriff`s Sgt. Tim Gallagher previously said the suspect could be involved in eight other robberies that occurred over the past two weeks in Amherst, Lorain and Sheffield Lake.

Resendez said police have a lead as to the suspect`s whereabouts, but he refused to elaborate.
