The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Rita V. Varga (nee Shank), 80, of North Olmsted, passed away Monday, November 19, 2007 at her son`s residence in North Olmsted, following a six year illness. She was born in Cleveland and had resided in North Olmsted for the last eight years. She was employed as a cashier at Geraci`s Bi-Rite Supermarket in downtown Cleveland for over 30 years. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, playing bingo, animals and dining out.
She is survived by three sons, Stephen Varga (Joan) of New Waterford, William Varga (Patricia) of North Olmsted and Terry Varga (Sylvia) of Sheffield; three grandchildren, Brittney, Nathan and Kristen Varga; and one brother, William Shank (Claire).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Shank and Lilah (nee Nolan) Shank; sister, Dorothy Shank; and brother, Charles Shank.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Pastor Bradley Quick from First Baptist Church of Elyria, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one-hour prior to the Service. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Westlake.
