The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

William Edward Riffle

William Edward Riffle, 72, of Grafton, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at his home following a short illness. He was born December 19, 1934 in Burnsville, West Virginia, and was a Grafton resident for most of his life.
Mr. Riffle was a U.S. Navy veteran, earning the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. He was very active in the conservation of the American Chestnut, where he was a member of the American Chestnut Society. Mr. Riffle enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Dick of Elyria, Debra Farley of Eaton Twp., and Rebecca Corley of Lorain; son, William Riffle of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; sisters, Betty Toups of New Martinsville, West Virginia, Diane Coffman of Fairmont, West Virginia, and Nancy of Fairmont, West Virginia; brothers, Benjamin Riffle and Barry Riffle, both of Fairmont, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Roy William Riffle; brother, Robert Riffle; and parents, Roy and Mary Frances (nee Knight) Riffle.
Friends may call Friday, November 23, 2007, from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at State Route 57, Elyria. Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Georgia Frazier will officiate. Burial will follow in Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
