The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Carol C. Keech

Carol C. Keech (nee Schroeder), 79, of Elyria died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at her home. She was born May 21, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She moved to Elyria where she graduated from Elyria High School in 1945. She received a degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from Bowling Green State University in 1949.
Carol worked at American Greeting Card Company in Cleveland. She also worked for companies owned by Margaret W. Kahliff and later as Assistant Treasurer for Strongsville City Schools, retiring in 1995.
Through the years, she was active in the community, serving as president of the Elyria Junior Women`s Club, residential chairman for the American Red Cross Drive and she also volunteered on Elyria School Levy Fund Raising Campaigns. She was a member of Friends of The Metro Parks, Fourthurs and a breast cancer support group.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Elyria where she served on the Board of Trustees, Diaconate, Altar Guild, and various committees including Hot Meals and the Church Pantry.
Her interests were her family, reading, knitting, and she had traveled to 45 states and Europe. One of her most enjoyable experiences had been hiking for over 30 years with the women of the Mountain Mamas.
Carol is survived by her sons, Bradley C. and Michael W., both of Elyria and Spencer N. of Whitehall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nial C. in 2002; parents, C. A. and Caroline Schroeder (nee Michaelis); and a brother, Clyde C. Schroeder.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Funeral Service will be Friday, 10 A.M. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second St., Elyria. Rev. Christina Kukuk will officiate. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery in Huron. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or Lorain County Metro Parks, 12882 Diagonal Rd., LaGrange, OH 44050.
