The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Leonard B. Cooksey

Leonard B. Cooksey, 85, of Huron, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Norwalk Memorial Home after a lengthy illness. He was born January 1, 1922 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and had lived in Huron for 51 years, moving from Lorain. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He  worked as a carpenter for American Ship, Lorain.  He  was also a life  member of  VFW Post # 7576, Vermilion. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include  daughters,  Beatrice  Squire of Lansing, Michigan, Barbara Cooksey of Huron; sons, Garland  Cooksey of Huron, Noah Cooksey of Salida, Colorado,  Alven  Cooksey of Sandusky;  and two  grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Bonnie Cooksey, Oct 21, 2003; parents; infant twins; and three sisters, Ivell, Virginia and Kathryn .
Friends may call Friday, November 30, 2007 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Services at 6:30 P.M.
Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 1 P.M. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
Memorial contributions may be made to  Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or Norwalk Memorial Home, 272 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, OH 44857.
