Ohio State women down Mississippi in basketball showdown

COLUMBUS – Jentel Lavender had 24 points and 15 rebounds, and Ohio State held Mississippi scoreless for seven minutes down the stretch in the No. 19 Buckeyes` 69-55 victory over the Rebels on Sunday.
Mississippi (3-3) took a 51-48 lead on a layup by Shawn Goff with 8:06 remaining. The Buckeyes (6-2) then scored 17 straight points, including nine by Lavender, before Ole Miss scored with 56 seconds left.
Ashlee Trebilcock added 17 points for Ohio State.
