LORAIN – Nothing changed in four close races that were recounted Wednesday at the county Board of Elections.
The recounts confirmed a six-vote win for David Kos, a challenger who unseated incumbent Avon Lake City Councilman Michael Stanek, as well as the victory of Fred Ostrander, who edged Donald Flak in the race for president of Vermilion Council.
The recounts also upheld the eight-vote victory of Paula Jones for the Oberlin school board, and the five-vote win for Mary Angela Marsigli in the Avon school board race.
The only race where there was a slight change – one vote – was the race for the Vermilion Council. When the votes were recounted in Lorain and Erie counties – the community straddles the county line – the previous 10-vote margin separating Ostrander from Flak dropped to nine votes due to a miscount in Erie County.
