The Lorain County Junior Achievement Online Holiday Auction features fun items guaranteed to spice up holiday gift-giving, including a five-alarm dinner for two sponsored by the Lorain Fire Department.
The most sought-after item is the five-alarm dinner, Junior Achievement Executive Director Michele Marquis said.
Maybe that`s because the highest bidder of that item wins more than the average dining experience, enjoying a free dinner and ambiance with members of the fire department at the Central Fire Station in Lorain.
“It seems that the unique items are the most popular ones,” Marquis said.
Other hot items include a seven or eight-day Carnival Cruise, an overnight stay for six at Kalahari Resort Waterpark in Sandusky, four tickets and a parking pass to a Cleveland Cavaliers game and gift certificates for local restaurants.
Proceeds from the auction will help fund the countywide program.
Other special items up for bid include a year`s worth of signature cookies from Eat `n Park and a free room painting from Handy Harrison.
This is the third year that Lorain County Junior Achievement has held an online auction. Last year, it generated nearly $5,000. This year, Marquis hopes to raise $6,000.
The purpose of Junior Achievement is to educate children about business, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Junior Achievement has programs for 11,500 students throughout Lorain County in grades K-12. It serves all school districts in the county, although not every school in every district participates.
The auction ends at 7p.m. Dec, 14. To bid on an item, visit www.jalorain.cmarket.com
