The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Wanda Mae Shinault (nee Elliott), 73, of Avon Lake, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Community Health Partners in Lorain.
She was born July 5, 1934 in Kay Ford, W.Va. She lived in Sheffield Lake for 40 years before moving to Avon Lake.
Wanda was employed as a cashier/office manager at the Fishers Big Wheel in Avon Lake before retiring in January 1997.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sheffield Lake and the 50 and upper group. She enjoyed church groups, crocheting, and ceramics.
Survivors include her daughters, Terri Lynn Finch (husband Tony) of Lorain, Tracy Lee Raskevicz (husband Al) of Oswego, Ill., and Peggy Ann Granby of Seneca, Ill.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Clarence Isaac Shinault; and her parents, Clarence Forrest Elliott and Opal Belden (nee Smith); and a brother, Kermit Lee Elliott.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007,until a noon funeral service at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake.Ă‚Â The Rev. Dan Duffy, Director of Missions Northcoast Baptist Association will officiate.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
