The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Mary Jane Blakeslee

Mary Jane Blakeslee, (nee McGuire), 90, of Elyria, died Friday at her daughter’s home in Carlisle Twp. following a long illness. She was born August 6, 1917 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Mrs. Blakeslee was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting, walking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Nagy of Carlisle Twp., with whom she made her home, Nancy Turner of Elyria, Joyce Clark of LaGrange, and Joan Burdett of North Ridgeville; sons, Harold Blakeslee of Galion, and John Blakeslee of Carlisle Twp; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren;sister, Claire Gleason of Vermilion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Blakeslee in 1986; and brothers, John and Thomas McGuire.
There will be no visitation. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. The Rev. Charles Diedrick, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 East 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119 or to St. Mary Church. The Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Elyria is handling arrangements.
