LORAIN – A 64-year-old Lorain man woke up in a Lakewood hospital Sunday, nearly a month after he said he was assaulted by three unknown men.
Lorain police were called to Lakewood Hospital when David Weller woke up and told a nurse he had been assaulted Nov. 11 at his stepdaughter`s Pennsylvania Avenue home in Lorain, according to a police report.
Weller told police that he was trying to convince his stepdaughter not to loan out her car to three men for drugs when he was struck from behind, the report said.
Police said Weller`s stepdaughter told the responding emergency crew that Weller had fallen in the bath tub and never mentioned the assault.
Weller`s injuries included a severely swollen left eye and a deep cut, and a second-degree burn on his left foot, the report said.
Police said when he regained consciousness Sunday, he was not able to provide a description of the assailants.
