ELYRIA — Police say an employee at the Chestnut Commons Wal-Mart stole more than $3,000 in electronic equipment since Halloween.

Robert D. Thaxton, 20, of Grafton, was charged Thursday with felony grand theft.

According to an Elyria police report, surveillance tapes show Thaxton taking PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 games, 14 DVDs, three iPods worth between $200 and $400 each, a laptop worth $900 and other small electronics.

The total cost of the stolen merchandise comes to $3,148.95. When confronted, Thaxton said he would return all of the items, the report said.
