TEAM CAPSULES

MAGNIFICAT BLUE STREAKS
COACH: Joe Gura, 17th year
ASSISTANTS: Meg Leneghan, Liz Wojtkun
2006-07 RECORD: 1st place Medina Division I sectional; 2nd place West Geauga district; 2nd place state meet
RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (7): Colleen Agozzino, jr. (Westlake resident); Kayla Kmiecik, sr. (Avon resident); Kelsey Reddy, sr. (Avon Lake resident); Alyssa Snyder, so. (Rocky River resident); Liz Sullivan, sr. (Rocky River resident); Susan Sullivan, so. (Rocky River resident); Erica Zanath, so. (Broadview Heights resident)
REMAINDER OF ROSTER: Kelly Nortz, fr. (Bay Village resident); Maureen Prytal, fr. (Westlake resident)
SCOUTING REPORT: Kmiecik, Agozzino and Reddy return as individual state qualifiers. Agozinno was a district qualifier in bars and floor. Reddy missed sectionals and districts due to a staph infection in her knee, but recovered in time to compete in the team all-around at the state meet. Agozzino (all-around), Elisabeth Sullivan (bars, beam, floor), Susan Sullivan (vault) and Zanath (vault, floor) also competed in the state team competition.
Last year, Magnificat extended its streak of state tournament appearances to 19 (1989-2007). The Blue Streaks have never finished lower than third at state since 1990, winning a record 10 state championships.

MIDVIEW MIDDIES
COACH: Teresa Ribar, 3rd year
ASSISTANT: Rachel Ribar
2006-07 RECORD: 10th place Medina Division I sectional
RETURNING LETTERWINNERS (3): Sarah Obugene, sr.; Gabriella Patarini, so.; Brianna Schnur, sr.
REMAINDER OF ROSTER: Christina Schaefer, jr.; Amanda Schnur, fr.
SCOUTING REPORT: The Middies’ roster has shrunk considerably. Last year the program had 16 team members. Midview graduated three seniors. Three gymnasts from last year — sophomore Gabrielle Cardamone, senior Courtney Chalmers and junior Raven Reed — chose not to come out. Head coach Teresa Ribar said it was mainly because of a $150 monthly facility usuage fee for training at Ten Point-O Gymnastics in North Ridgeville. Last year, Reed and Chalmers were district qualifiers in bars. Reed barely missed districts in all-around, finishing 13th.
