Man says he was mugged in elevator

ELYRIA — A man told police he was attacked in an elevator early Monday after visiting a friend at an East Avenue apartment building.

William Marcum, 39, said that as soon as the elevator doors closed, two men inside jumped him, took his shoes, frisked his pants pockets and took $100 in cash, according to an Elyria police report.

Marcum’s face and right hand were scratched, the report said, and there were possible blood stains on his pants.

One of the attackers was a black man wearing a tank top, but he could not give a description of the second man, Marcum told officers.
