Robert Otto Dillon, 86, of Elyria, died Monday, December 24, 2007 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home in Westlake following a long illness. Mr. Dillon was born on March 27, 1921 in Erbacon, West Virginia and made his home in Elyria since 1946. He was employed as a welder at General Motors for 21 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 12, and United Auto Workers Local 1107. Mr. Dillon served with the United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Dillon (nee Weyrick) to whom he had been married for 61 years; one son, Jack Dillon of Elyria; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth McCombs of Quinwood, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sophia (nee Holcomb) Dillon; eight brothers; and five sisters.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral services will be on Thursday in the funeral home at 11 A.M. with the Reverend Beth McKee, Chaplain of the Wesleyan Village, officiating. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio.
