The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Frank Woods, Jr., 80, of Elyria, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at his home. He was born October 27, 1927 in Drakes, Ohio. He had been a resident of Elyria most of his life and had also lived in West Salem for 12 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Aniwitok and Panama. He was employed at General Motors in Brook Park, then for 25 years at Douglas Mfg. in Elyria, where he retired.
He was the coach of the 1958 Little League South State Champions who were inducted into the 2005 Elyria Sports Hall of Fame. Frank was a member of Elyria American Legion Post 12, Elyria VFW 1079, Elyria Amvets Post 32 and Elyria United Polish Club. He was a former member of Polk Amvets Post 149.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ithael (nee Breon); sons, Edward Woods of Jacksonville, Florida, Scott (Gloria) Woods of Spencer; daughters, Linda (Dave) Cook-Toth of LaGrange, Mary (Victor) Dewey of Elyria; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marge Barefoot of Vermilion and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Frank “Skip” Woods, III; grandson, Mark Woods; granddaughter, Allison Woods; parents, Frank and Chestoria Woods; brothers, Jack, Ed and Richard Woods; sisters, Wanda Attie, Jean Kazmeirczak and Pauline Swartz.
Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. The funeral service will be Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Edward J. Luca, former pastor of St. Teresa Church, Sheffield Village, will officiate.
