Police: Couple charged $11k on stolen cards

AVON — Police are looking for a man and woman whom they say racked up more than $11,000 in purchases on credit cards stolen from a Lakewood woman while at the Avon Commons shopping center.

The victim was ordering a cup of coffee at Panera Bread on Dec. 21 when her wallet was stolen from her purse, which was next to her. By the time the 34-year-old woman noticed her wallet was missing, police say thieves used several credit cards at stores all around the shopping center.

Among the purchases, more than $1,900 was spent at Best Buy, another $2,600 was charged at Target and four $500 Home Depot gift cards were purchased with the credit cards.

Two suspects have been seen on various store security tapes. They are a black male in his late 20s, about 5 foot, 7 inches tall and wearing a brown coat and brown hat, and a white female, about 5 foot, 10 inches tall, heavy built, wearing a long black fur coat with long reddish-brown hair down to middle of her back, police said.
