Police: Lorain man has smashing Christmas

LORAIN — A 48-year-old Lorain man broke out $2,500 worth of car windows Wednesday morning in the name of Christmas, police said.

Geronimo Reyna was charged with vandalism and possession of criminal tools following a 2:30 a.m. two-hammer tirade near the parking garage of St. Joseph Community Center in Lorain.

Lorain police responded to the center after a security guard said he heard someone banging against the security office window, and then observed Reyna breaking out four windows of a vehicle parked in near the garage.

When a responding officer asked Reyna why he broke the windows, Reyna responded, “because it’s Christmas,” according to the report.

Reyna smelled of alcohol, the report said, and also had an active warrant for his arrest.

The two hammers and a multipurpose tool found at the scene were taken as evidence.
