John Terence Kelly, 85, passed away December 15, 2007 after a long full life. A World War II veteran as well as a prominent Cleveland architect for 60 years designing buildings and gardens for the Holden Arboretum, Bratenahl Place, and St. Mary’s Church in Hudson as well as private homes.
He was born in Elyria and was an Elyria High school graduate, continuing onto Carnegie Institute of Technology and then Harvard with his masters degree in architecture. Mr. Kelly was project architect for the geodesign dome that embraces the building of ASM International in Russell Township. Mr. Kelly designed the ASM headquarters as well.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas of Elyria; sisters, Mary Daly, and Jean Tierney of Elyria.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Ignatius Church, 10205 Lorain Ave. Cleveland. The family suggests contributions be made to St Augustine Towers, 7821 Lake Ave. Cleveland, OH 44102. Arrangements under the care of Dicicco-Berry Funeral Home, 23040 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake.
