Ohio State backing the BCS
COLUMBUS — Jim Tressel padded his resume thanks to college playoffs. Once a fervent supporter of the postseason format, now he’s changed camps. As for his boss, Ohio State President Gordon Gee, don’t even mention revising the current system to him. You do, and the guy in the bow tie gets downright graphic. [...]

Sidney Crosby can expect chilly receptions every time he returns to Buffalo. Some snow, a shootout and Sid the Kid’s winning goal added up to a perfect hockey day outside . The Penguins captain somehow saw space between Ryan Miller’s pads as he shuffled through driving snow and gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 [...]

Sprinter Justin Gatlin got his doping ban reduced, but not by enough to make him eligible to defend his Olympic 100-meter title this year. An arbitration panel, in a 53-page ruling released Tuesday, reduced the 25-year-old sprinter’s potential eight-year ban to four. With the ban set to expire May 24, 2010, it means [...]
