The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

James Irving Taborn, Jr., 61, a lifelong resident of Oberlin, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Welcome Nuring Home, Oberlin, after a long illness. He was born July 20, 1946 in Oberlin.
He worked for the City of
He was a member of
He enjoyed fishing, painting, drawing, reading and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Richard Taborn of Lorain, Sabrina Walker of Oberlin, Tabitha Conn of Oberlin, Debbie Carter of Lorain and Melissa Taborn of Wakeman; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Gary Tabor of California and Howard Bristol of Oberlin; sisters, Marge Pauley of Oberlin and Carol Ellis of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James I. Taborn, Sr. and Agnes M. Conell Taborn; brothers, Bobby Taborn and Chuck Bristol.
Friends may call at the Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Monday, January 7, 2008 from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. Pastor Ernest Battle, Antioch Primitive Baptist Church, will officiate. A private family burial will be at a later date.
