The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Darlene C. Klingenmeier (nee Ehrlich), 71, of Amherst, died at her residence Sunday, January 6, 2008, following an 18-month illness with lung cancer.
She was born in Lorain, December 22, 1936, and was a 1954 graduate of Clearview High School.
In 1954 she won the local beauty contest "Miss Vacationland" which had contestants from Lorain, Erie, and Huron counties.
For many years she was the office manager at her husband’s construction company, Klingenmeier Builders, which was located in Amherst. She was also a secretary at the Ford Lorain Assembly Plant, U.S. Steel Corp., Lorain, and the former Lorain Community Hospital.
Over 30 years ago, she became a real estate agent servicing the Lorain County area and most recently was employed at Howard Hanna, Amherst.
From 1960 to 1985 she was organist for Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, Amherst. She continued to play at church for special occasions. Since 1957 she was an organist at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, Amherst.
Darlene enjoyed collecting antiques, and most of all spending time with her family. In the past, she taught piano to local students.
Survivors include a daughter, Lesli Klingenmeier of Lorain; two sons, Scot of Fort Myers, Fla., and Randy of Amherst; her mother, Katie (nee Kaspirek) Ehrlich; two brothers, Don (Toni) Ehrlich of Avon and Edward (Jimmie) Ehrlich of Missouri; a sister, Nancy Balas of Avon Lake; sisters-in-law, Rheba (Glenn) Hammond of Pennsylvania and Charlotte (Dale) Beetler of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Reinhold W. (1989); her father, Edward Ehrlich (1958); and her father and mother-in-law Oscar and Gertrude Klingenmeier.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Ave., Amherst. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, 780 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. The Rev. William R. Mouer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Fellowship Foursquare Church, P.O. Box 146, Amherst, OH 44001 for the benefit of the children’s ministry.
