The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Roberta C. Rapose (nee Gionet), passed away Friday, January 18, 2008 peacefully, after a lengthy illness at her home in Amherst, surrounded by her family.
Roberta was born in Shirley, Massachusetts, where she lived until relocating to Amherst in 1978.
After graduating from Ayer High School, she was employed by the George Frost Co. as a secretary until taking a secretarial position for the Vail Dental Clinic in Ft. Devens, Massachusetts. While raising her family, she returned to work as a secretary to the assistant principal at Ayer Elementary School in Ft. Devens.
Until her illness, she was the administrative assistant to the president of Nordson Corporation in Westlake.
Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, Joseph R. Rapose; her sons, Joel S. Rapose of Wellington, Shane C. Rapose of Amherst; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Shane and Shawn; her sister, June M. Veasie of Ayer, Massachusetts; mother, Amelia Gionet of Shirley, Massachusetts; aunts, Jeanette Kacient of Gardner, Massachusetts and Helen Herbert of Biloxi, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry L. Gionet of Shirley, Massachusetts.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 22, 2008 from 3 until the time of the Service at 7 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Amherst Beaver Creek Reservation at 913 North Lake St. following the burial.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to CHP Regional Medical Center/New Life Hospice Center, 3600 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
