BREAKING NEWS: Killing in Lorain; suspect sought by police

1:58 p.m. — Jose Gonzalez, a 47-year-old father of four, was gunned down about 10 a.m. today during a robbery in the grocery store he owned, Lorain police said.
The suspected gunman escaped the store with an undisclosed amount of money and is being sought by police. He is described as a bald, white male in his late 20s with a thin build and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark vest or coat with no sleeves, police said.
Gonzalez Grocery, located in a residential neighborhood at the corner of West 26th Street and Lexington Avenue, was often crowded on Friday afternoons with people just off work looking to cash their paychecks, neighbors said.
1:23 p.m. — Police and officials from the county coroner’s office are at Gonzalez Grocery at the corner of West 26th Street and Lexington Avenue. Police have released no details of the killing, but the family of the man believed to have been slain has also gathered outside the store.
12:21 p.m. — Lorain police are investigating a suspected murder on Lexington Avenue. Details will be posted as they become available.
