‘Antichrist’ arrested outside Lorain Subway
LORAIN — A man who told police he was the Antichrist and said his name was “666” was arrested Thursday after he tried to punch a Lorain police officer.
John J. Johnson, 31, of Cleveland, was charged with assault, disorderly conduct by intoxication and resisting arrest.
He was found about 7:35 p.m. at Subway on East Erie Avenue, wearing a coat and no shirt and holding a 5-pound bag leaking white powder — which he said was his father’s ashes, according to a Lorain police report.
A manager there told police that her employees were frightened by Johnson’s strange behavior, especially in light of a recent rash of robberies in Lorain.
The report said Johnson was either high or drunk, and that he made bizarre sexual and religious comments, including that he was a devil. A computer records check showed he was wanted on an outstanding arson warrant and warned that Johnson had violent tendencies.
When he was asked about the warrant, Johnson tried to hit a police officer, the report said.
