A high wind warning will go into effect at 7 p.m. today and remain in effect through 7 a.m. Wednesday for Lorain County, according to the National Weather Service.

Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph are expected as a strong cold front sweeps through the region. Sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph are expected after the worst of the storm has passed.

Some thunderstorms may accompany the front, which could lead to additional damage. Winds will begin to taper off early Wednesday morning, but gusts over 50 mph will be possible until daybreak Wednesday.

Showers are likely today, starting after 4 p.m., but the rainfall is expected to total less than a tenth of an inch.

Rain showers will likely occur before 1 a.m., then rain and snow showers will are likely between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., with snow continuing after 4 a.m.

The temperature is expected to drop to around 16 degrees, but wind chill will make it feel like zero degrees. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.
