LORAIN — North Ridgeville’s girls defeated Vermilion 1,887-1,750 in a roll-off for the regular-season championship of the North Shore Bowling Conference at Rebman Rec on Wednesday.
The Vermilion boys won their roll-off with the Rangers by a 2,418-2,315 score.
Heather Hill rolled a high game of 192 and a match-high series of 369 for the Rangers, who finished the regular season in a tie with the Sailors at 10-1.
“Our girls really played as a team,” North Ridgeville coach Debijo Lamb said. “They picked each other up. We picked up some difficult splits in the second game, which was a real boost. This win is especially nice for our only senior, Nichole Lamie.”
Valerie Piskur paced the Sailors with a match-high game of 213 and a team-high series of 331.
Bryan Buckosh’s consistent games of 217 and 208 for a 425 series led the Sailor boys, who were also 10-1 during the regular season and tied with North Ridgeville.
 “Our boys did what they had to do as a team,” Vermilion co-coach Maureen Buckosh said. “This was a match between two evenly matched teams. Our boys picked up on a North Ridgeville mental mistake in the second baker game and capitalized on it. Otherwise, things were as even as they have been before against them.”
Wes Arndt of the Rangers rolled the match’s high game (235), while Mike O’Sullivan rolled North Ridgeville’s high series (422).
