The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Stella Wielopolski (nee Gebal), 94, formerly of Elyria, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Rose Arbor Hospice of Southwest Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich., following a short illness.
Mrs. Wielopolski was born in Poland on December 30, 1913, and lived in England before moving to Elyria in 1952. She moved to Michigan in 2003 to be close to her son.
She was employed at E.S.T. Bank (now First Merit Bank) in downtown Elyria for 35 years as maintenance supervisor. She was a member of Holy Cross Church for 10 years and St. Jude Church for the past 30 years, Altar & Rosary Society of Holy Cross Church, Legion of Mary, United Polish Club Ladies Auxiliary and secretary for 10 years of the Polish National Alliance.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her son, Richard J. Wielopolski (wife Mari) of Portage, Mich.; two grandchildren, Jeremy Wielopolski of Ypsilanti, Mich. and Kristine Gillay of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and one great-granddaughter, Cassidy Gillay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno Wielopolski in 1980; one daughter, Donna Watkins; and one son, Alfred Wielopolski.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria. A rosary will be recited 2 p.m. Sunday by Holy Cross Altar & Rosary Society. Closing prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2008, in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria, with the Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
