Cedar Point shoots for the sky

SANDUSKY — A new thrill ride that will dangle passengers 160 feet above the ground is opening at Cedar Point amusement park.

Park officials say the attraction, called Skyscraper, will feature giant propeller arms that spin passengers at speeds of up to 55 miles per hour. Riders will sit in open cars.

The ride will open in May at the Challenge Park area, a separate activity complex where rides are individually priced.

The manufacturer’s Web site shows parks that already have Skyscraper typically charge $20 to $30 for a two-minute ride.

Other separate-free attractions at Challenge Park include the RipCord Skycoaster, go-kart tracks and miniature golf courses.
