LCT driver seeks damages for 2006 crash

ELYRIA — A North Ridgeville man injured in a February 2006 crash between a truck driver and the Lorain County Transit Authority bus he was driving is suing the transit company, the trucker, and the transportation company he works for suffering what he says are permanent and debilitating injuries.

Attorney Robert W. Gray filed the lawsuit Tuesday in county Common Pleas Court on behalf of Dana W. Muncey of North Ridgeville. The suit names as defendants Keith L. Agius and Peter Hodge Transport Ltd. of Milton, Ontario, and other firms including MV Transportation and CT Corp. System in Cleveland, as well as several unnamed corporations and individuals.

Muncey, an LCT driver, was letting passengers off his bus at a stop at East 14th St. and Broadway in Lorain when the bus was rear-ended by a 2003Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Agius, according to the lawsuit. The impact of the crash pushed the LCT bus about 40 yards through the intersection, according to the suit.

Muncey was thrown around in the bus, suffering injuries that have left him with headaches, sporadic migraines, a concussion, blurred vision, muscle spasms, restricted motion, lower back injuries and permanent nerve damage, according to the lawsuit.

The suit, which seeks damages exceeding $25,000, compensatory damages and court costs, says Muncey’s medical bills have topped $115,000, and he has lost income and employment.

Woman fears aunt’s hocus-pocus antics

LORAIN — A Lorain woman told police she’s in fear for her life after discovering a witchcraft-practicing aunt put a hex on her.

The 34-year-old woman went to police after discovering a thick, powdery yellow line on the edge of her porch steps, according to the police report.

The woman told police the line was symbolic of a spell on the house, and that whoever crossed it would have bad things happen to them, the report said.

The woman comes from a long line of family practicing witchcraft, the report said, and was even a witch herself, before she “found God.”

Problems began, the report said, when the woman’s aunt began sending her threatening cards and letters, and then passed a letter to the woman’s son.

The woman told police the spells are true and not to be laughed at, and that she has seen her aunt destroy the lives of other people “with her powers,” the report said.

Police forwarded the cards and letters to the city prosecutor’s office to determine what charges could be pressed against the aunt.

LCCC student says she was raped

ELYRIA — A student said three gunmen forced her into a van Monday in a Lorain County Community College parking lot and raped her, according to the college.

The girl said she was walking to her car about 4:15 p.m. when the incident occurred. Campus security and Elyria police are asking for witnesses to step forward with information about the assault, the school’s website said.

To provide tips, call (440) 366-4053.

LCCC said security officers will be upping patrols in the parking lots, and escorts to personal vehicles may be requested by call (440) 366-4053 or on-campus extension 4053.

Elyria police Lt. Andy Eichenlaub said the incident remains under investigation and more information will be released today.
