Browns to hold onto Jamal Lewis

Browns general manager Phil Savage said Thursday morning a deal with running back Jamal Lewis is “almost imminent.”
Lewis, who rushed for 1,304 yards and nine touchdowns in 2007, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Feb. 29. It was his lone year with the Browns after seven in Baltimore.
“We ramped up here in the last couple days,” Savage said on his weekly radio appearance on the team’s flagship network.
“We’re really close. We anticipate maybe within 24 hours or so. We feel real good about it.”
