Car falls into Scioto river, killing 2 women

CHILLICOTHE — Authorities say the bodies of two women have been pulled from a car that went off a southern Ohio road and came to rest upside-down in water.

Ross County Coroner Dr. John Gabis says one of the victims appeared to be in her late 40s, the other in her early 20s. Their identities have not been released.

The road runs alongside the Scioto River southeast of Chillicothe, and the crash occurred late Friday morning as sleet and freezing rain were falling. The car was found at the mouth of a creek, where it joins the river.
