The boil alert for Columbia Township will remain in effect until further notice, according to the Rural Lorain County Water Authority.
Ten customers, including the Columbia Schools, remained without water today and school was cancelled.
About 3,000 customers were initially without water on Wednesday, according to Tim Mahoney, manager of Rural Water.
A water line break was discovered in the 16-inch water line on the south side of state Route 82 about 500 feet west of state Route 252, he said.
Service was restored to most customers by closing isolation valves, he said.
Mahoney said rural water crews and an outside contractor are replacing 700 feet of water line to correct the problem. They expect the work to take three days, he said.
