The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Dorrell Pitts, 79, of
He was born May 23, 1928, in Oberlin to Fred N. and Vernona (nee Cowie) Pitts. Dorrell was a 1946 graduate of
Dorrell was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Lorain County Fair Board for 42 years and was honored with several awards for his service. Dorrell was in charge of the tractor pulls at the fair for 40 years and was actively involved with the Ohio State Tractor Pull Association.
He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, the Wellington Hospital Board, the Farm Service Association Board, the Township Zoning Board of Appeals, where he served as longtime secretary, and the former LaGrange Farmer’s Co-Op, now known as Town and Country and
Dorrell loved spending time with his grandkids and was known as “Gramps” or “Pops” to many people in the community. Attending county fairs was his passion and he enjoyed tractor pulls. Dorrell was a sports fan and rarely missed a Dukes sporting event.
