The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Edmund Witbeck Jr.

Edmund Witbeck Jr., 80, of Carlisle Township, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at EMH Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born February 29, 1928 in Elyria, and was a lifelong township resident.

Mr. Witbeck was a bus driver for the Midview Board of Education for many years, retiring in 1984, and was also the former owner of Ed Witbeck Trucking Co. in Carlisle Township.

He enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Grafton Thursday Night Men’s Bowling League and was a 2003 inductee of the Elyria Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Deanna (nee Yates); daughters, Judy Witbeck of Elyria, Linda Kinter and Sheryl Gregory, both of Grafton; step-daughters, Kimberly Fox of Huron, and Jackie Terrell of LaGrange; step-son, Allen Kline of Grafton; five grandchildren; and his dog, Sam.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild; and his brother, George Witbeck.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Bauer Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria, where services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008. The Rev. Jonathan McCleery, pastor of LaPorte United Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will be at LaPorte Cemetery, LaPorte.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Lorain County Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
