Eileen Brandal, 83, of Leesburg, Ga., and formerly of Elyria, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga.

She was born January 5, 1925, in Angola, Ind., and graduated from Monroeville High School in Monroeville. She resided in Elyria from 1941 until moving to Live Oak, Fla., in 2003 and then to Leesburg in 2006.

She was employed as a secretary for 27 years for Elyria City Schools, working at Hamilton and Franklin schools, retiring in 1988.

She enjoyed reading, bowling, playing cards and baseball.

Eileen is survived by a son, Robert L. Brandal of Grafton; and a daughter, Pamela Santiago of Leesburg, with whom she made her home; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Brandal in 2003; a son-in-law, Pete Santiago in 2005; and brothers, Verr and Virgil McClish.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. The Rev. Janet A. Long will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church Mission Fund, 2126 W. Edgewater Dr., Albany, GA 31707. Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Elyria, is in charge of arrangements.
