Police: Pregnant woman tied up, raped

CARLISLE TWP. — A pregnant woman told sheriff’s deputies her feet were tied with an electrical cord Monday while she was held down and raped for two hours at an Edgewood Drive home.

Thomas E. Kiley, 40, of Grafton, was charged with domestic violence, kidnapping and first-degree felony rape. He was taken to the county jail and is being held without bond.

The 27-year-old woman said Kiley became upset Sunday about e-mails he received involving her former boyfriend, a county sheriff’s report said. She told deputies they argued starting about 9 p.m. and he pushed her into some closet doors and she fell to the floor.

That’s when Kiley started choking her to the point she felt she would pass out, the woman told investigators. While he choked her, Kiley banged the woman’s head against a wall and said he would kill her, the report said.

When he relented, Kiley wouldn’t let the woman leave the room, she told deputies.

The next morning, the two went to the airport for a trip to Florida but instead of getting on the plane, they returned to Kiley’s house in Carlisle Township, the report said.

The woman told deputies that once inside, Kiley hit her in the shoulder, bound her feet with a cord from an alarm clock he yanked out of the wall, held her arms down and sodomized her while she yelled for him to stop.

The woman, who is five months pregnant, was taken to EMH Regional Medical Center to check whether the baby was harmed.

The report noted that Kiley had also been charged with rape in Cuyahoga County, but deputies were unable to find out the disposition of the case. Records show he was convicted in January 2007 of disorderly conduct by intoxication in Elyria Municipal Court.
