Cigarette thieves caught on camera
EATON TWP. — Two men and a 16-year-old boy were caught on camera Friday breaking into a drugstore and stealing cigarettes and pain killers, sheriff’s deputies say.
Investigators tracked Benjamin L. Tripphahn, 24, Benjamin R. Krugman, 22, and the teen back to an Eaton Township home after they discovered a cement block thrown through the window at Midview Drugs, 35053 Royalton Road.
The three were charged with felony counts of breaking and entering, tampering with evidence, criminal tools, theft, theft of drugs and vandalism.
A sheriff’s report said the men stole 20 cartons of cigarettes and bottles of vicodin and alprazolam, which is used to control anxiety and clinical depression.
The men cut a hole in the drugstore’s roof to get in, broke through a wall to get into the pharmacy section and then broke through the glass doors to get out, the report said.
