Burglars strike Lorain Goodwill
LORAIN — For the second time in two weeks, burglars used a second-story window Thursday night to break into Goodwill on Broadway and steal cash.
Lorain police said an employee reporting for work early Friday found her desk drawers trashed and $400 worth of petty cash missing.
The worker told police she believes an employee is responsible for the theft because the thief knew where to look for the cash.
A burglar hit the same Goodwill store March 10, stealing $300 in cash, $325 in Fligner’s Market gift certificates and five credit cards, police said.
Investigators said they found blood smeared over the floor, on broken window glass, on furniture and an electrical outlet. They also found a knife on the roof that could be linked to the burglary, a report said.
Police: Mom had girl help shoplift
LORAIN — A Lorain woman used her 5-year-old daughter to shoplift Friday from Super Kmart on Leavitt Road, a Lorain police report said.
Michelle L. Bullard, 38, of Lorain, was charged with theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and was taken to the county jail.
A security guard told police he watched Bullard slip makeup into her purse and pockets while the girl tore UPC codes from the makeup and handed them to her mother.
Bullard was also filmed taking alcohol, ice cream and a TV dinner before trying to leave, the report said. The security guard told police the value of the stolen items was $138.37.
When her mother was arrested, the little girl was driven by police to her grandmother’s house, the report said.
