Dayton L. Gunter, 57, of Elyria, died Monday morning, March 24, 2008 at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland, following a short illness. He was born January 15, 1951 in Princeton, West Virginia. Mr. Gunter moved from Princeton to Lorain, where he resided until moving to Elyria in 1955.

He was employed for nearly 10 years for Green Circle Growers in Columbia Station. Mr. Gunter was a member of Praise and Worship Church in Elyria. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan, and enjoyed watching their games. Mr. Gunter bowled and was associated with the Ridge Runners Bowling League in North Ridgeville. He liked working on bikes and lawn mowers.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his brother-in-law and guardian, William P. Sanders of Elyria; his nieces and nephews, Gail, Michael, Derrenda, Denise, Darren, Sherre, Jeffery, Duane, Tina and Joyce; and his life time friend, Debra Rogers of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James W. "J.W." Gunter and Glene Sharon Gunter; sister, Vida Leota Sanders on October 31, 1998; and parents, William Walter on November 23, 1965 and Leta M. (nee Cook) Gunter on May 27, 1976.

Friends will be received Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 2  to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be in the home Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11 A.M. with Sister Jenny officiating.  Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
