The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present.  Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are available at the health district.

Elder John Edward Todd

Elder John Edward "J.E." Todd, 53, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 23, 2008 following a long illness. He was born in Mansfield, coming to Elyria 52 years ago.

He attended Elyria High School and worked in area restaurants in his earlier years. Elder Todd was an Associate Pastor at Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church, Elyria. He sung with the Seven Travelers Gospel Singers and was the church musician, and he enjoyed singing at different churches.

His hobbies included singing and a love of music. He was an avid sports fan.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of five years, Geneieve "Bowens" Todd; daughters, Azella Merrit-Todd of Cleveland, Johneida Todd-Young of Lorain, and Dalaysia Bowens of Elyria; sons, John Merritt Todd of Cleveland, Cleveland Todd III, Deion Owens, Dale Bowens, all of Elyria, and Terrance Bowens of Mansfield; mother, Duffie Mae Todd of Elyria; 42 grandchildren; brothers, Donnie (Mary) Todd of Columbus, Cleveland (Grace Lee ) Todd of Elyria, William "PoJo" Breland of Lorain, Calib Todd of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; sisters, Verian (Jeff) Crump of Delaware, Elizabeth Chester and Veronica (Ernest) Cofield, both of Elyria, Valerie Harris of Mansfield, Louise Allen of Linden, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Friends may call Friday, March 28, 2008 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. in the Unity Baptist Church, 326 Fuller Road, Elyria, were services will be Saturday 11 A.M. The Reverend Douglas Price, Pastor of Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church will officiate and the Reverend Willie Gardner, Pastor of Unity Baptist Church will co-officiate. Burial in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
