High school roundup: Wellington’s Grimmett gets game-winning single against Admiral King

WELLINGTON — Aaron Grimmett lined a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run as Wellington beat Admiral King 7-6 in a non-conference baseball season opener for both teams Wednesday.
Kull McClurg pitched four innings in relief to get the win and had two hits. Tom Sigman had two hits and scored two runs for Admiral King.

EATON TWP. — Drew Ebersole set a Midview record in the shot put with a throw of 57 feet, 1¾ inches, but the Middies boys team lost a West Shore Conference dual meet to Rocky River on Wednesday, 94-50. In the girls meet, Midview’s Anicia Gamble won the 400 meters in 1:11.39 but Rocky River dominated the meet, 118-25.
