Walter W. Joy, 92, of Elyria, passed away Friday night, April 11, 2008 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria following a lengthy illness.

He was born August 20, 1915 in Elyria and remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Elyria High School, Class of 1942 and then entered the US Army Air Corp, and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre from 1942 -1945.

Walter retired in 1977 from Hart Construction in Elyria. He enjoyed restoring vintage cars and spending time with his family.
He is survived by three sisters, Faith and Florence Joy, both of Elyria and Lois West of Xenia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Joy and eight sisters, Carol Flood, Virginia Joy, Edith Joy, Stella Joy, Alice Johns, Dorothy Joy, Edna Petrucci and Ruth Joy; and his parents, Edward A. and Naomi G. Joy (nee Ward).

At the family’s request, a private graveside service was held Monday, April 14, 2008 at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. Arrangements were handled by Busch Funeral Home in Elyria. www.buschfuneral.com.
