James E. Schmittgen of Elyria and Gloria J. Rigsby of Texas are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Tara Averene to John Keith Wheeler, son of Elaine Wheeler and Jeff Scofield of Texas.

Miss Schmittgen is a 1995 graduate of Elyria High School. She is a member of Lewisville Citizens Police Academy Alumni and is employed by J.C. Penney, Corporate Office in Plano, Texas as a Head Statistical Research Assistant. She is a former employee of CVS Pharmacy, Elyria.

Mr. Wheeler is a 1997 graduate of Plano East Senior High School and is currently attending the University of Texas, majoring in Finance. He is employed by J.C. Penney, Corporate Office in Plano, Texas as a Unemployment Insurance Claims Specialist.

A July 26, 2008 wedding will take place at the Round Grove Historic Chapel in Lewisville, Texas with Pastor Gordon Nelson officiating.
