The move is a natural progression toward his administrative and personal goals, Parent said. “My goal is for this to be the last stop,” he said. “The last superintendent was there for 12 years. Hopefully, I’m there for 12 years.”
Parent will officially replace retiring Superintendent Marty Fanning on Aug. 1 but said he intends to begin familiarizing himself with the job in July. The position pays about $95,000 a year.
While at Clearview, Parent helped bring the district up from an academic emergency rating to an effective rating from the state.
Clearview has begun its search for a new high school principal and hopes to have someone in place by the end of May for the start of the 2008-’09 school year, Clearview Superintendent Rick Buckosh said. “It’s going to be difficult to replace Dan,” Buckosh said. “He was an outstanding principal — the kind of principal that got involved with kids. We’re going to miss him.”
Parent said he’ll miss the school district, as well, but is looking forward to starting his new job.
