ELYRIA — A man armed with a knife attempted to rob the Rite Aid on Broad Street in Elyria this morning, said Elyria police Lt. Andy Eichenlaub.

Police responded at 8:15 a.m. and the suspect had already fled, apparently without taking anything, Eichenlaub said. He was described as a white male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

A store manager said, “Everybody’s OK,” but declined to say anything else.

There should be a law about wearing a hoodie into a store or bussieness , no different then wearing a ski mask . The could fall under the Criminal Tools clasification , god knows everything else does . If you are wearing a hood and it is summertime out either y ou are hideing something or are up to no good

You really want the government telling you what you can and cannot wear?

I vote for punishing criminals to the full extent of the law and allowing law abiding citizens the right to wear a hoodie when and where ever they want.

well i only see hoodlems wearing hoodies , so i would rather see them take away the right for hoodlems to wear hoodies , than to tell a law abiding citizen what kind of light bulbs i can use in my house !

    OK…

    Let me get this straight…

“well i only see hoodlems wearing hoodies”

I wear a hoodie occasionally…does that mean I’m an occasional hood?

    My 5 yr old wears a hoodie…

Does he fall into the same classification of hood as myself, or is there a lower age bracket hood?

If my hood is down, am I a wannabe hood or am I just forgetful?

If I’m wearing a hoodie AND a ski mask are you gonna run TWICE as fast away from me?

    I own a gun, am I a criminal?

We need to, as a society, demand harsher sentencing guidlines and be prepared to pay for their implementation.

…and besides…it was freakin cold today…I’ll be wearin my hoodie tomorrow too. But not in Rite-aid.

Actually….a criminal tool is anything used to aid in comitting a crime so if a screw driver is used in a crime it is a criminal tool. I’m not a cop or a lawyer but I would think that if a hoodie is used to aid in comitting a crime which seems to be the case here then yes, it is a criminal tool.

    Have a nice day.

OMG, come on people. My grandaughter is a cheerleader. They were issued hoodies to wear on cold days this year with their cheer logo’s on them. Does this mean they will rob the concession stand at the games this year? Ladies!! get rid of those panty hose, they can also be used to rob. Let’s not forget knit caps and ski masks. Halloween masks are a good cover up , too. The statement aht only hoodlums wear hoodies is about the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. I sometimes wonder if some of you bother to think before you post. Oh, hell I have to get going and round up all the hoodies in this house before my family is arrested for owning a ciminal tool. Cheesh!!!!

let someone invade your home or rape a member of your family disquised in a hoodie , then we will see if you still feel the same way .

Wow. This discussion was officially taken too far.
I’m pretty sure Traxor said that with some sarcasm.

Lighten up people. All he/she was saying is that when people rob places, you often hear that the perp was wearing a hoodie. The rest was a joke.

    GEES.

How about people just have respect like there used to be, and put their “hoods” down when they enter a building? They do look like thugs skulking around in those “hoodies”.

Let me get this story right. The Rite-Aid wasn’t robbed, the man ran away…. so the fashion items that man was wearing was a gray hooded sweatshirt. Comments made that hooded sweatshirts lead to low self esteem, low esteem leads to drug use, drug use leads to unemployment, uemployment leads to smoking, smoking leads to crimanal activices… so the man who tried to rob the store was just a victim of September 11th and Osama bin Laden and should be sent a get well card…

I don’t know how you can get them to put their hoods DOWN when you can’t get them to pull their pants UP.

How about we get down to the real issue here… ??? If our tax dollars were going where they are suppose to go and we actually *See our tax dollars working* we wouldn’t have to read as much about *convict bashes womans head in after being released from jail 10 days ago, or an attempeted robbery at rite aid, or a woman is shot during a drive by shooting in Lorain, or that our schools are failing and falling apart and people have posted signs on rt. 57 over the horrible condition of the road, or people are being abducted in the park, all while the police, and fire departments and jail housing etc is cut back. I feel I pay the taxes and I want to know where they are actually going. I want to ***SEE MY TAX DOLLARS AT WORK FOR THE PEOPLE***

p.s. Rite Aid will price match their perscriptions, but they are not allowed to tell you they do it, you have to ask for it each time you order your perscription.. *point to ponder*
